Sofia Bronze, MSW, RSW Change is tough, but not impossible. I believe humans are survivors, pushing through difficult times, healing wounds and ultimately thriving. Therapy support is a key component to moving beyond surviving to thriving. When you work with me, you can expect patience, empathy and a willingness to travel through the therapy process at your pace. I will be a guide and a partner as you share your pain and your successes. I encourage reflection and I support you to stay in the moment through my use of mindfulness techniques that we can use in the therapy room and that you can take with you.

I am a Registered Social Worker with experience in both community-based agencies and the private/corporate sector. I enjoy working with adults who are feeling unbalanced and stressed, perhaps due to a lack of coping skills, anxiety/panic attacks, low self-esteem or are facing a difficult life transition. I offer an integrative approach that combines different modalities and therapeutic tools to fit your individual needs and goals.

Outside of work, I love yoga, meditation and being in nature, particularly by the water. I enjoy trying new foods and exploring local spots in the summer months. My favourite pastimes are gardening and relaxing with my Maine Coon rescue cat.

I understand how difficult it is to seek out support. It takes courage and vulnerability to explore parts of yourself you have not before. Ironically, it is the most difficult moments in life that can lead us to therapy. Working with me will help you use these difficulties to have a positive impact as you move forward, stronger, more capable and empowered. I will meet you with patience, curiosity, compassion and walk alongside you.

You have experienced trauma in your life that you are struggling to put behind you. You do your best to get through your days and do what you need to do, but the trauma continues to consume you. You are having nightmares, flashes of pictures interrupt your sleep, or they are even creeping into daily life. Your anxiety is seeping into your every moment and you want it to stop. When you work with me we will use specific trauma treatment modalities such as Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) to help you manage these ruminating thoughts and finally get past them so you can get your quality of life back. Whether it is past events or a current situation that has been creeping in, you know in your heart you can no longer wait. It is time to do something intensive and different with the support of an experienced therapist who will help you move forward to empower you to stop letting your trauma define you. As an athlete or high achiever, you recognize that there is so much to do, but it never feels like there’s enough time. You see flashes of brilliance and skill, and you know that you can perform to your potential, but you can’t seem to translate your performance in practice to competition or exams. Maybe you get in your own way. When the moment comes, instead of performing like you know you can, you tense up, try to do too much, or become indecisive or overwhelmed by stress.

We all need a little support sometimes. Someone who can ask the right questions, highlight and build up your strengths, and collaborate with you to achieve stubborn goals that you’ve had for a long time. Most importantly, you want someone who gets it and you can trust. Someone who understands the rigours, challenges, and obstacles to becoming a top performer. I have been in your shoes. I have both struggled and experienced success in academic and athletic settings. Though our situations might differ, I know the ripple effect that a little support can have in your sports or academic career, and I’m here to help.

My experience as an elite-level athlete informs my work as a therapist. I provide individualized counselling and psychotherapy to athletes and students facing challenges relating to motivation, mood management, anxiety, ADHD, performance slumps, education and athletic transitions, time management, fear of injury/re-injury, and long-term/season-ending injuries.

I am here to understand what makes you great and leverage those abilities to achieve your goals and aspirations. Whether you are a top performer trying to get the 5% edge over other elite performers, someone with aspirations of becoming great (in their sport or academics), or getting back to where you need to be, my mission is to work with you to get you there. *Supervised by Alison Maratos, BA, BSW, MSW, RSW

Life is unpredictable, and it is not always easy to handle. Whether planned or unexpected, significant life changes can stir up feelings of grief, uncertainty, and anxiety, leaving you feeling isolated and unsure of how to move forward.

Whether you’re coping with the pain of loss, adjusting to the challenges of illness or injury, or navigating the complexities of a blended family, these transitions can feel overwhelming and can leave you feeling lost. Hearing phrases like “accept your new normal” or “just give it time” without meaningful tools or support can leave you feeling stuck, frustrated and even angry. You need professional support from someone who won’t just tell you to get over it.

I work with adults using a blend of professional expertise and personal understanding, offering empathy paired with practical strategies tailored to your unique needs. Together, we’ll create a safe space to explore your emotions, uncover strengths, rebuild confidence, and find clarity and purpose amidst the uncertainty. While life’s transitions may be challenging, the right support can empower you to move forward with hope, renewed strength and resilience.

It’s time to feel supported and understood during this challenging time. Let me help you find the way forward so you can create a renewed sense of wholeness and meaning in your life. **Supervised by Alison Maratos, BA, BSW, MSW, RSW
